white smoke on start-up finally throw a code
the truck is a 06 6.ol with 138,000 miles on her.A few week on start up it blows a little white smoke . Coolant level has been fine. Today it throw a code for #1 glow plug. How hard is it change, and I don't want to be throwing parts at it if something else.

Obtain a test light. Glowplug #1 is the first cylinder on the passenger side. Follow the glowplug wiring to the 4 pin connector just behind the alternator and unplug it. Attach the clip of the test light to the positive terminal of the battery and the probe to each pin inside the connector going to the glowplugs. If the test light lights up then the wiring and glowplugs on the right bank are ok. Suspect the glowplug module located on right valve cover. It does not require programming, its just plug and play.
