Trev F1 (Again)

Hi Folks, me again!!! my next question for all you knowledgeable people out there is this: can anybody out there post some pictures/photos how the cab is fitted with rubber spacers etc... to the chassis & how thick are they? as mine sits metal on metal, as all cab corners are completley rusted away & i cannot see how things go, also can the corners be repaired satisfactory without removing cab, one last thing for now is there any books out there that i can buy, that are really detailed workshop repair manuals.

thanks guys

Call L M C 1-800-562-8782 or go online at www.lmctruck.com , they have the parts you want and show where they go . tell them to send you a catlog and you will get one everytime they print new ones. I sure there are others that have the same .

Assuming you have a 48 - 52 Bonus Built, here are pics of the lh front and rh middle cab mount to give you an idea. At the moment I do not have pics of the rear cab mount / arm set-up (haven't gotten that far in taking it apart).

There is a member here who makes patch panels for a number of locations on the trucks and is quite popular - "reamer"

I believe he has the panels on the swap meet pages here on the site.

As far as publications are concerned, you definately need a "Shop Manual," and an "Operators Manual" both of which are available on E-bay for a modest price. The first has most of the repair procedures and some specifications, and the second has a lot of useful information and other specifications not found in the shop manual.

And, I would highly recommend the "1948-1952 Ford Truck Chassis Parts Catalog." This is a thick catalogue that has exploded drawings of just about every assembly on the truck. It's harder to find but invaluable if you are restoring a truck. They pop up on e-bay about once every couple months.

There is a third manual you can get the "1948-1956 Ford Truck Chassis Parts Illustrations Catalog" but it is not nearly as extensive as the 48-52 catalog and very lacking in body parts for 48-52. Lastly there is a CD titled "Ford Truck 1928-1956 Chassis Parts and Accessories Catalogue" that I just bought. The CD does have the 48-56 Illustrations catalogue in it, but it DOES NOT have the 48-52 Chassis Parts Catalogue.

Do not waste your money on a 1944-1952 Body Parts Catalog - there were only about 7 applicable illustrations, and they are about $50US. It is on the CD I mentioned however.

Trevor, I posted some pics of my cab as I lifted it off. You can see the rear mounting arms clearly. Hope this helps you. If you use the search feature and type in "Haven't been working lately" it should get you there.
Good luck and I hope you have as much fun as I did getting it apart.
