Hey all,
I have a 2005 6.0l. I ran a superchip programer since the rig had 8,000 miles. at about 32,000 i lost the headgaskets(the norm) so i had arps installed and egr delete from LIPD. at about 45,000 miles i noticed the same signs of head gaskets gone agian. took it in and sure enough it was the issue. So i ordered o-ringed heads from liberator and coolant bypass from elite. already have the egr delete and have the fuel loop kit from last install.
The problem that im having is that im scared to try and run a programer agian and have the same issues. I installed all the fix it all things(arp head bolts, egr delete) the first time and lost the heads. what gives?
Did you get your heads checked for flatness ? or get them decked ? cause if not then your just putting back warpped heads back on and its gonna puke over and over.
I had them done at the local dealership under factory warr. the first time he said that all was good. so the second time it made me wonder so thats why I got the heads from liberator performance. what do ya think about the Programers from power hungry performance?

Not trying to be rude but do a search on tuners in this forum. You will quickly see why I recommended the Xcal 3 or Spartan Phalanx.
1. You really don't know if headgaskets were caused by the tuner. Tuners do bring the issue to bare if it was already there. Alot of people make the connection, "I put the tuner on the truck and now I have headgasket(or really head bolt issues as those are the real culprit) issues so the tuner caused it", while may be true, based on that thought alone doesn't make it true however.
2. Like was already mentioned, if the install wasn't done properly(and if they used ARPs there is a different torquing "schedule" that must be done for proper installation compared to factory bolts). Or if there was something up with the heads, could be a couple of things that could have made it go bad again(I'm with you on this as mine puked again after the first time ARPs were installed and on the dyno no less).
3. SCT X3(maybe the TSX, I haven't heard anything bad about it yet; don't do the LiveWire) or the Spartan Phalanx (the one that I use) are your best bets. Power Hungry does have some good custom tuning, but those two mentioned above are the ones that the majority would suggest. Now PHP does do custom tuning(and I haven't heard anything bad), but to my knowledge they just use the Edge as a platform and I would gather use a different file extension then .ll3, so you would need to be satisfied with one tuner, while the other 2 devices have multiple tuners whose tunes you can use(SCT having the most at this time).
Eric at Innovative diesel has some good Tunes for the 6.0L for the SCT's... either way if you do the spartan or the SCT def go with custom tunes.. do not do any out of the box tuners anymore... are you running gauges? if not you def should
if you have any questions or need prices on the SCT with custom tunes feel free to PM me

This is a long way from the .org; what brings you here?
lol.. figured i would give it a shot and see how it goes....
Glad to see you here. Out of the two, I like it here the best(as you can tell from my post count, far cry higher then the meager 700 something on the .org).

Thanks for the help. im gonna look into those options. i have the egt guage. thats all. Id like to get guages on all funtions(tranny, ect.) but dont want to lose my piller "oh **** handle" if i remember correct the sct has those funtions on the display?

the livewire does come with built in gauges.. but... im not a huge fan of it... it has no mounting pod so you will have the great window suction cup thing like GPS units...
if it were my truck i would run an overhead pod (right next to your rear view mirror) and run your gauges up there so you dont lose your handle...
like this:
also the reason i dont like those all in 1 units is because if for some reason the livewire breaks or gets stolen you lose your tuner and your gauges in 1 shot... my recommendation is to get an X3 with custom tunes and a set of regular analog gauges...
hope this helps bud... if you have any other questions feel free to ask
