Transmision or Electronics

Hello everyone,

I have been hanging out on here for a while, but never posted anything. Thank you for all the help that you have provided, even though I have never posted.

Well here is my problem, I have owned a 2002 F-150 super crew, lariat, FX4,5.4 almost 100k since new. I have had more than my share of problems with it, but that was then, and this is now. I take very good care of it inside and out, I have even done all the recommended services, whether I agree with them, or not.

Recently, I came across a huge mouse nest, under the cup holder in the center console, which has apparently comes out, and goes all the way down to the carpeting, and provides a great nest area for mice. I found a nest, made of my napkins, but no rodents. I was not to pleased with this nest, being that I keep my truck so clean...no really my friends tell my I have problems with how clean it is. Well anyway I cleaned out the nest and fully detailed the truck just today.

Well, later on in the day, I get in the truck to bring it to the shop to get the new rancho shocks put on it, and I find I have and abs light on, no blinkers, no heated seats (ok so I say it must be some fuses, all seems to be good here).

Now, the main problem is when the truck is coming to a red light, or stop sign, right before you hit the brakes to come to a complete stop, it sounds like the the tranny is winding down, followed by a clunk in the floor right above the center floor console.

The winding noise I heard before the nest, and it was on my list to go and get it checked real soon, just the truck decided it was time now not then. I have droped the truck off tonight at the transmission shop so that maybe they can find the winding noise, but my fear is that they tell my it needs to be replaced and I have a electrical problem.

Do you think that mice could have caused the problems, particularly with the ABS & Transimission? Additionally, the next question is, if it is the transmission should I go new, used, or rebuild mine?

If you are looking to do performance additions, although from the sounds of it you may not be, then a built up trans would be an option i'd look into. if it needs a new transmission, i'm sure you'll be able to find a place that can do a good rebuild on one.

Thank you for the response

Funny you say that, before I looked to see if I had any replies on here, I was talking to the wife about that option. I like the way you think, I tow enough toys that it might be the best way to go, with out going to crazy as far as add-on's and what not. You have ya nice looking truck in your pic

I know that's the way I would go get a little something behind these motors, if you're going to get it done, do it right.

Thanks, that's my baby.
