I got my clutch installed and it works great! While I had things torn apart, I had the bellhousing and inspection plate & cover sandblasted and painted them. Also painted the transmission. Had the flywheel resurfaced as well and installed new rear motor mounts. Next problem...I bled the brakes several times, but I still have to pump them once or twice before the pedal comes up. Once I pump them, they grab really well(skid) and they hold. But if I don't pump them, the pedal goes right to the floor with no resistance. None of the wheel cylinders appear to be leaking and the brake assemblies are in good working order with plenty of material left on the shoes...what's wrong? Do I need to rebuild my master cylinder? Thanks for any advice!
Check your flexible (rubber) brake lines. Some times when they get old, they will expand under pressure requiring more fluid, for the brakes to work, than a single stroke of the master cylinder provides.
If the hoses are in good shape, and you know your bleeding procedure is good, then it's time to work on the master cylinder.
Sounds like air in you lines. Adjust all the shoes out so the tires will not turn, re-bleed brakes, back off shoes so they just scrape the drums with tire off the ground.

If you have bled your lines already I vote for bad seals in your MC. I know that the seals on my 56 are all shot and I have to pump it a couple time to get it braking in any sort of meaningful way.
My MC was so bad that it was completely empty when I bought it. I filled it up drove it around after bleeding it/re filling it and checked it again. It was only half way full.
does your foot sink after a bit when you depress the pedal?
You should replace all the rubber anyway however...
