Well this is my second try at try'n to find out why my frontend wanders when I hit a pothole. I took it back to the dealer and they said there is nothing wrong with it-AGAIN. But it still does the same thing and I'm wanting to correct the problem. I've replaced everything I can so it's got everything but new I-Beams and a slave cylinder. It's never been in an accident or abused so I'm not think'n anything is bent. I was going to get a dual steering stabilizer cuz they help my jeeps so well but can't cuz the f250 has a slave cylinder. Anyone got a clue as to how I can fix this?
one thing that caused it in my pick is a bad tire.. but it was extremely bad with the 35's on it.. check for ANY improper wear in your front tires.. and another easy test.. take a good tire.. start on one and than go to the other side and see if that cures the problem..
If the steering box is out of adjustment, tightening it up makes a big difference - but everything else needs to be right first & there are specific torque settings/procedure to follow, to prevent early wear.
Usually the term "wandering" refers to a constant kinda looseness in the steering. When you say it only does it when you hit a pothole, does it dart off in one direction when you hit a bump? (bump steer) If thats the case, does it only do it when a certain side hits the hole?
