390 with a hard start...
Hey guys, I just refreshed a 390 motor over the summer. I put a new timing chain in it with the timing marks lined up. it has a new distributor. Its running a 750 cfm edelbrock carb manual choke that i bought second hand. The distributor advance is pulling vacuum from a timed port on the carb. The motor is set at 10deg btdc. When i try and start it i have to pump the gas like 7-10 times. When it does start, the motor chugs at idle with me holding the pedal to the floor. Finally i have to slowly work the gas pedal for like 20 seconds. After about a minute it idles ok and runs, but being a manual trans i feel it doesnt have the power a 390 should have. Any suggestions?
