rear end noise

I am told that this rear end noise probably means my rear end is going out on me. Anyone have any idea what it might cost to fix this?

your rearend going out could be many things?

seals, bearings, clutch packs in the LS, ring and pinion damage. A complete rear end job could get rather costly.

what kind of noise is your rear end making? mine is making a kind of humming noise, but it only does it under accelleration or constant power, but when coasting, it goes away. i have been told that it was just my u joints. we will see next week when i change them out and check my rear end.

Rear end noise can come from several different causes. Can you describe the noise any better? Does it change going around a right or left turn? Under load or under decelleration? Coasting?

Also is it a limited slip differential?
