Ok i posted posted the other day about truck starting and stalling , and eventually not working at all . Glow plugs work , change the battteries ( i just got the truck so i rather be safe than sorry) Also just had a recall done for the sensor and the cps . ALternator test fine . Before i bought the truck the kid had some problem starting it . From the problems i have had lately the starter did not sound good. I have a complete engine i can grab parts from . I changed the starter . Ripped apart the fuel pump in the vally . Come to find out the lifter that went into the pump had snapped. It was still working hitting the other side , eventually got worse . I took the pump off the other truck. pump and truck run good . the scrater valve the fuel come out at a steady stream . Is that suppose to spray out like crazy> I dont use ethor , a diesel mechanice said spray silicone. I go to start it and turns but does not catch sounds like it is out of fuel. If i shut the truck off and hit the scrater valve no fuel. . I think i am losing prime. No fuel leaks at the pump or the lines visible in the valley. Could it be the th electric transer switch on the rail that swaps the tanks . Is there some kind of backflow preventer .? please help
Fuel pressure can be 60 lbs at the schrader valve. Is the fuel bowl full? You can do a half way test to see if it is pushing fuel by opening the bowl drain to check if the bowl is getting fuel. 3/8" hose on the drainpipe to a container. Never heard of the spray silicon thing. The fuel system doesn't hold pressure with the engine shut off. At least thats how I understand it. If the bowl isn't full at this time fill it about 2/3 rds with diesel fuel additive or diesel fuel button it up and try again.
Have been able to put a real fuel gage tester on it . I have the gages etc. But it is hard to grt to it with the brackET. Where is the fuel bowl . Still learning the diesel engine. Also could a bad cps make it so the truck would not start . Fuel injections, etc
