Hi Guys,
I started the truck up this morning with no problem and after idiling for a few seconds i switched the tanks over and it died! Since then it has refused to start. Have i somehow got air in the system. I have never had problems when switching tanks in the past. 1988 7.3 250.
Thanks for any light you guys can shed on the problem.
Go up to the fuel filter, and there is a valve there that looks like a tire valve. Push on the valve and fuel should come out. If not, you definitely have no fuel to the engine.
Air leaking into the return lines lets the fuel in the fuel filter drain back to the tank.
When the air in the fuel filter reaches the injection pump, the engine stops.
If that was the case, switching tanks really had nothing to do with the engine stalling or the air you now have in the injection system.
