Yesterday I went to start the truck and I noticed that the LED for the GPR was flickering very dimly then went out quickly. Truck started up fine though. This morning in between the rain I went out and tested for voltage, yup GPR gave up the ghost. Just for the hell of it I started the truck she fired up with no problems it is in the 50's here. I am so thankful that I had the LED to let me know of the failure. Once the cold weather hit I would have been dead in the water with a dead GPR.
For all of you that do not have this mod you should really consider doing it. Very inexpensive and easy to do but can save you alot of frustration in the long run.
All you need is a 12V LED from Radio Shack a 1/2 amp maximum and a length of wire. Connect the LED 1 end to ground and the other lead to the load side of the GPR (the one without the rubber boot.) When your GPR is energized the light is on. You will be amazed at how long it stays on at times.

Good info/post Jim...tried to rep. ya..but you know...lol...Phil
It makes me smile reading about all of the folks that have installed the GPR LED. I'm very happy to see it identified a failed GPR. The original GPR LED is still in my truck and working like a champ. WMRiceman

Mark Thank You for pioneering this mod. IMO it is a mod that is a necessity. Yesterday my LED came on very dimly once then bright as day another time then not at all. I know that the contacts on the GPR are all arced out and not making contact as they should. All of this information because of a $5 mod
I might have to do the LED on my next weekend. I want a purdy light, plus it wouldn't hurt to clean up some of the wiring in my gauge pod. Jeremy, where have you been hiding?
