We had talked about this in one of our chat threads, it's too late for my to locate it (i'll try later) My truck is doing the same thing.
According to the help I was given, the axle needs to come off, there are a few specialty tools you will need, and that's about it. It's more tedious work, than difficult is what I gathered.
What rear end is it. I have a 10.25 Sterling in mine & I replaced mine by removing the drive line pulling off the yoke, pulling the seal, then reinstalling a new seal. No special tools. Although the yoke nut is tight & an air gun may need to be used. I believe it torques over 150 pounds.
