Can't do that just yet, we need to stay in our circle holding hands singing ***-ba-ya until we get both our legs wet at the same time. Try closing your eyes and have happy thoughts. Shouldn't be much longer.

My vote is to take the redone front and rear suspension off of the short bed frame and put it on the long bed frame. Less effort than trying to lengthen a frame.

Well thanks to all for the good advice. You all have offered many good options on what my possibilities are. After considerable thought I believe lengthening the frame is outside my abilities with the equipment I have in my garage to work with. I also agree with the suggestion on just buying a short box to install on the frame. Problem is that would cost somewhere from 500 to 800 for the box plus shipping is what I have been seeing on Ebay and craigs list. Plus most of the boxes I have seen need much more work than my current box.
What I have decided to do is remove the new and rebuilt parts and transfer them to my current frame. Plus the aluminum rims and tires are an improvement from the stock rims and tires that are on my current truck.
Yes I will still have the short box frame that I will not be using but all of the new and rebuilt parts that I am installing on my frame are worth much more then I paid for the whole frame and chassis. Thanks again for the great advise.
Steve

Why not shorten the box? It can be done.

Way toooo much work? Maybe for some, myself included. I have seen many cars and trucks that have body mods and most of them look really good. Chopped tops, now there's a lot of work. Shortening the box seems pretty simple to me. Take out a section and weld it back together. Seems easier then shortening or lengthening a frame. Just my opinion.

Well you have to make 4 cuts bed rail lip to bed rail lip, and 2 welds. Keeping everything perfectly straight and not letting the heat warp anything. You would have to be a high end custom body man to pull that off.

You could prolly buy 5 beds for what it would cost time and labor. IMHO

I sit corrected. After much thought, (well a little) and after looking at my bed, I admit that you are correct John. It would be a lot of work. So John, you win this time....haha. Thank you for helping me see the light.

Bub, I didn't win anything. I come here everyday to try to pass along info about things that I have learned over the years, and to keep guys from making dumb *** mistakes like I did.

Maybe you win, if I was able to help you.
