NOW WHAT?!?!?!?

OK So I just finished re-seating the harness under the passenger side valve cover. Running good... Heading down the road, and I slow for a stop sign and I am greeted with a skin crawling grinding. Turn around and go home and start pulling the wheels. Well it seems that something like a tiny screw had gotten in somewhere as there was a nice, carved gash on the inside of my left rear rotor and an odd impression in the pad. So I pull off the caliper and CLINK! CLINK! Holy crap! The end of the caliper pistons fell off! They are busted! WTH!?!?

Ok the heck with it. So 4 new rotors, calipers and set of pads later, (Oh yea ... and $480 later too), all 4 wheels in the air, take off the brackets to put new guide pins in...OH C'MON!!!! 1 pin on each bracket is seized. OK Find torch. CRAP!! Its still with the camper in the mountains getting repaired from a blown wheel bearing! So I ended up taking the brackets to a local shop and spend another $80 to have them removed. OK All is good now. New parts and smoooooth braking.

However!! How long will that last!! The shop said that ever since they started using the Mag-Chloryde (sp) in Colorado to de-ice the roads, they have seen a HUGE jump in stuck pins and badly corroded parts. So can I send the bill for the repairs to the state DOT? It's bad enough it is all sticky and gets your paint all nasty.... now they use something that will eat away at the parts too? Where is my bicycle....

Sorry to hear, but you know when it rains it pours.

Sounds like a nice 6.0 might be in your future.

How else do you think they are getting the older vehicles off the road???
They have been trying to do this for years, and now they will just rust solid. Maybe the prius won't rust...

I could always carry a prius in the bed just in case something happens with the truck!
