I didn't need a puller, they will come off with pene oil, big screwdriver, and a hammer. I did need a decent snap ring plier....................you can do it! I know someone will squack but I didn't torque anything either.
Depending how hard it is to pull the hub from the knuckle, I pulled mine off in about an hour, maybe a little less. But then again I used a gear puller. You should also replace the the o-ring that seals the hub to the knuckle if you have a ESOF system. Its not that hard, go for it.
For the first time, probably a few hours. The time you spend tinkering to get things just right adds up quick.
After I purchased my X, I went and pulled apart the front hubs to get to the bearing, and put in new slide pins up front. First time process was about 5-6 hours start to finish. Now it takes a little over an hour per side. After you do it a few times it gets faster and you get more familiar with the parts. I now take apart the front slides pins for regreasing once a year, and the needle bearing once in every two years.
esof system is that standard or a 1 yr off thing but all you guys have saved me a ****load of monie not that i had any to begin with but thanks
ESOF, that is the standard 4x4 hub lock to get you into 4 wheel drive. It is run with a vacuum impulse when you hit the switch on the dash. The guzzle site talks about it and also shows a step by step maint on those esof hubs. Lots of peoples hubs freeze up so they replace with aftermarket, and some of us just keep up on the maint and have no issues with them.
