My girlfriend has begged me to drive my truckfor the past 7 months. So earlier I got brave and decided to let her drive it from her house to mine which is like 2.5 miles. Before she gets even a mile down the road she puts my truck in the f_cking ditch bending the passenger front panel to hell and cracking my windshield even worse. The worst damage is on the metal piece extending from the roof to the side of the body and on the same piece behind the window.
I looked in lmc truck and found the panel for $100 but I'll probably just go to the trusty junkyard for that. But I was wondering if I could buy those pieces anywhere or just put a new cab on it because the rocker panels are already rusted out and made of bondo. And also how to take that panel off.
So I was wondering how much a cab in good shape (a ballpark figure) would be and some tip
If I were to change the cab could I get one with guages in the dash instead of these god awful idiot lights. And if there would be anything else to worry about when finding a donor truck. Mine is a 81 f100 4.9 c4. It Was a stick from the factory and the po put the auto in it. I was thinking of finding a cab from a stick in case I wanted to slap a stick tranz back in it. I dunno.
Feel free to offer some advice. But thanks in advance.
Woman driver. I'm still kickin myself in the *** for even thinkin bout lettin her drive it. I was thinkin about if I could just get a cab with the oil pressure and ammeter guages in them so I don't have to change them in. I dunno tho
I've read on here that it's more than just a plug and play deal to go from the dummy lights to the full gauge set. There are differences in the associated wiring.
You could take this as an opportunity to replace the factory gauges with some Autometers or something. You'd have to run new wires and such, but they'd be more accurate and quicker to respond to changes than the factory gauges.

Oh, Hell, yes... With the ammeter, you've got a different voltage regulator
and associated wiring for the charging system.
