I have a question about my radio. I have a 06 F-250 C.C. 4x4 diesel with the built in 6 disk CD changer. I am looking to see if it is possible for the radio to show the song name and artist being played.
I have looked through the manual and messed with the menu , but with no avail. I had this same style of radio in my old 2004 and it was available, so am I over looking something or this model year it was not available.
Thanks to all who help us newbies
In FM radio you have to have RPMS enabled. It will tell you the call letters for the station (Rock 103) for example and I think you can hit the "text" button to get your info. If you have Sirius built in you should be able to hit the "text" button as well. My info is based on the '08 radio and I don't know if yours is the same or not.
Being that I just traded in my '06 F250 SD CC with the 6-disc CD, I cannot check this to be 100% sure, but I do not recall that radio as having the RPMS feature. I know my '09 has it, but I don't believe the '06 does. I second the thought of a re-post in the electronics forum as well.
One thing to watch out for......I had a LOT of trouble with the 6-disc changer. I don't know if it was just my radio in my truck, or if it was something consistent across the '06 6-disc systems in general. I had a lot of trouble getting cd's to load and eject and to play. It seemed to work fine if I only put one CD in, but then whats the point of having a 6-disc changer? Anyway, I just wanted to put that out there so you're aware. I ended up pulling mine and replacing it with a Kenwood DNX7100 which is now sitting on my shelf!
Good luck with the text and let us know what you find out!
I have a 07 with the 6 disc CD player. I don't know of a way to show song names in it. I also had problems with it when I bought it used and got it replaced under warranty. My feeling is if it works it works, if it doesn't and it's still under warranty I'll have it replaced, if not then it just won't work.
