How much of the original gas wiring is still in the truck?

Check the wires going into the sensor ...... wire cover can pull back and fan wind causes them to short out....

If everything is still under the dash for the gasoline motor, my guess is you are getting a signal through the insturment cluster stock wiring causing your trouble.

do the two wires from the factory 6.9 tach sensor go DIRECTLY into the cluster? How does the sensor function (name of it)?

Does one wire FEED power TO the sensor and the other sends signal to the tach?

I'm assuming the sensor gets power from somewhere?

I guess i'm wondering how the whole setup fuctions? Looking to do some testing before spending 75 from my dealer for sensor.

thanks..........didn't mean to hi-jack your thread.

The sensor is a Hall Effect unit.

Generates it's own power/signal, so yes the two wire go straight to the tach.

If you do a search on "Hall Effect" you will come up with a better explanation than I can give.
