i have a 2005 F-250, crew cab, short bed FX4, 6.0,and i want to put in either a 2 inch or a 2.5 inch leveling kit with new shocks and steering stabilizer, overall just beef-up my front suspension, bds and rancho look pretty good but, theres a lot of brands, and a lot of different prices, so if anyone has any recommendations???
Not too many positive reviews on Ranchos, look in to bilsteins, a lot of companys will have buy 3 get 1 free on them. As far as leveling kits go I don't know that one is better than another.
make sure your front axle isnt the dual i beam, because i have that and they dont offer appropriate alignment with the 2" spacers. i need the axle drop down brackets, but they only make it in the 6" lift kit by FABTECH, so im saving up, and now i have to take out the 2" spacers so my tires dont mess up
One thing to keep in mind if your lifting or levelling is that the new shocks have to be longer than stock to fit with the taller springs. When I bought my kit, the new longer shocks came with it.
so with the LEVELING kit you still need new shocks??
Some kits come with brackets that allow the use of the stock shock. I have the Readylift SST leveling kit and it came with brackets. I eventually took the stock shocks off and went with a longer shock (Rancho's).
Do yourself a favour and unless the shocks that are on it now are something really special; dump-em and go with new shocks when the kit goes on. If they're the original shocks that came with the truck; they'd be junk anyway.
