Shift lever loose
On my 07 E350 the shift lever seems loose. In any position, the shifter has play. Not at the shifting mechanism itself, but where the handle bolts to the mechanism.
Any experience with this issue out there?

Not sure what to tell you on this one. If it is the shifter mechanism on the column, then its likely to need some investigating to determine the cause. My concern is that something could come loose and jam the steering mechanism. Not sure if this is possible due to the design of the column, but it deserves looking into.

I have a 92 Club Wagon. It has a cast aluminum shift "rod" that runs parallel to the steering column. A lever is bolted to the "rod" at the floor end. Check to make sure the bolts that attach the lever to the "rod" have not backed out. We have had it happen twice. Getting in a position to observe and tighten the bolts can be a challenge. It helps if you are a contortionist.
One other time the cast rod fractured into two pieces and we had no shifter action at all.
