69 F-250 engine question

69 F-250 engine question

I just got a 1969 f-250 and it has a 460 I know its not original but would like to know how I can tell what year it is so I can buy parts for it. Thanks

Welcome to FTE

Usually block casting numbers are worthless for ID'ing what size, year the engine is, but not in the case of 429/460 engines.

Post the casting number, I'll tell you about what year it is, what parts are specific to the engine.

The code will be similar to these two examples: D1VE-6059-AB / D9TE-6059-AB.

btw: Since 1968/73 429 & 460 engines used the same engine blocks, this means the engine could be a 429...or a 460.

OK, here is the number I got D8TE-9C485-BFB this number was on a sticker on the valve cover I am sure that the valve cover is original. Thank you this will be a big help
