Not to Hijack - cuz this is about fuel economy.

I saw an '01 D.Durango (V8,4.7l) with a "custom" cold air intake that I can't get off my mind.

It was a generic filter (K&N clone) by the right side fender that was attached to the TB by 3-4" PVC!!!!! Man - it was ugly!

It was generic white PVC. Figured he might have used a toilet donut as the seal between the PVC and The TB

My apologies to you on the forum that might have done this. AFAIK it works. Never tried it...probably never will.

Maybe I need schoolin'.

Wonder what the melting point of PVC is under a hood like that.

Things like that just stick in your mind.

If the oxygen sensor has more than 50k miles on it-replace it. My MPG went up when I replaced my 100k mile oxygen sensor.

Those open element cone filters are not cold air intakes. They are marketed improperly. All they do is suck in warm under hood air. Also, the KN type filter or is knock offs do not filter as well.

Park big truck, Buy little truck. Will double ur mileage and pay for itself in no time. I did that when gas was still at 4.00/gal. Got an 83 ranger and it cut my fuel cost in half. Then I started to realize that I didn't need a full size truck all the time and a Ranger would suffice for most things. I have a 94 ext cab w a 4.0 that can pull a trailer w/out a prob and I rarely use my big truck anymore. Still get twice the mileage.
