HD wiring

Gonna be installing an old used plow onto my '92 F150. It's a pathfinder with the old permanent style mount (lights and pump stay on truck). I want to retro fit/ customize it to take the pump/lights off.
I'm gonna use a quick disconnect ( jumper cable style) for the main power. When the plows off I want to make the main power switchable to cut down what I have to unbolt and so it's not always on.
Now onto the electrical question: Can I use a starter solenoid as a relay? Will it standup to constant on, instead of just momentary use? Or is there a relay big enough to withstand the amperage? That way I can turn the pump off from inside the cab with a rocker switch.

I am not sure what you are doing. I use a regular starter relay to power the hydraulic motor for the plow, but it is only on when I lift the plow or turn the plow.

I also have a permanent mount plow. When I want to take it off, I just unbolt the large power wire from the solenoid, the large ground wire from the engine block(I added this one for a better ground to the plow) and then take off about 5 or 6 wires off a terminal block I mounted in the engine compartment.

If you wanted to use quick disconnects, for the pump power I would use a large plug like they use on forklifts, and count how many smaller wires you need to unplug, and possibly a 6 pin trailer plug would work for that.

I am not sure why you would need a constant power relay for the plow.

I plan on buying this kit and an extra pigtail ( the part circled) to attach to the pump:

I want the part permanently attached to the truck switchable instead of always on.

Then I only need a plug, like the 6-pin trailer plug, for the headlights and turn signals.

The hydraulic valves are underhood, so I just need to disconnect the lines.
