Blown fuse, trans shifting problem
This one's for a buddy at work. He's driving a 2002 F-150 FX-4, 5.4L, auto trans. Apparently, last night, after getting back from running service calls in the company truck, he started his truck to leave but it wouldn't go into gear. No interior lights either. #15 fuse blown (5 amp), controls GEM module and rear ABS, along with a couple other things, can't remember exactly but they weren't interior lights. Put a new fuse in and was able to drive around back to a fenced-in yard, fuse blew again, and wouldn't go back in gear. Left it overnight so he wouldn't get stuck on the way home. Any ideas? Is there some kind of electronic lock-out on the trans shifter or is just some weird coincidence?
Appreciate any help on this one.
Thanks
For anyone else that runs into this - found out there was a bad bulb in the 3rd brake light. Bulb was shorting out the fuse, which was keeping the shifter from going into gear. New bulb, new fuse, truck goes into gear, no problem.
Hope this helps someone else.
