P.S. Ordered the 6637 and FRX from Clay...I plan on doing the CCV and HPX and AIH delete, along with gauges. Would some of you seasoned vetertans on this site say I'm going in the right directions or should I take another path? Thanks agian fellers!
A wicked wheel will eliminate turbo surge if you have it. You will also hear more whistle from your turbo with a wicked wheel.
As per Xtreme Diesel:
"Xtreme Diesel's X-Wheel® Compressor Wheel
The X-Wheel is designed to eliminate the common compressor surge in most stock 99.5-03 7.3L Powerstrokes. The altered wheel design increases airflow resulting in all-around better performance at higher boost levels.
The X-Wheel is designed for Stock Turbo's, not high-performance/ball bearing turbo's.
Installation of the X-Wheel will take approximately 3-4 hours, it is recommended that the turbo be removed from the truck. We highly recommend that installation is done by a professional mechanic."
As Per Diesel Site:
"The Wicked Wheel® will:
Reduce or Eliminate Turbo Flutter/Surge in your 1994-2003 7.3L Ford Powerstroke.
Lower Exhaust Temperatures - NOT increase them
Increase Low-End Throttle Response - you may "feel" like your truck has more HP, but it DOES NOT
For use in 1994- 2003 7.3L Ford Powerstrokes
Is NOT intended as a horsepower mod.
The Wicked Wheel® will NOT:
Increase your performance
Increase your truck's horsepower
Increase or decrease boost
Increase or decrease fuel economy"
Exhaust and Intake in my opinion are the most important to any upgrading, don't forget those. Clay can hook you up with those to at a great price. A little info for yaa, I got the S-B intake setup and its highly rated, plus you never have to buy a filter again. I plan on keeping my truck for the long haul so thats one reason I picked it, great filtration also.
Thanks Matt...IDK about tapping ino the turbo myself seems taboo to me or is this a straight up install?...i would just hate to open up pandoras box and relize i bit off more then i can chew!...i will put it on my mod list..(keeps getting longer and longer!!!!!!)...lol. Maybe look around for a guy who knows what they are doing to help me with this. Is there a thread on here or link with this teardown and install?...

Mike/ Big Poppa...what is a S-B intake?...i plan on putting on a 4' exhaust with no muffler when money is avalible...thanks Mike.
Great filtration and highly recommended. There is other systems but me personally, one of the best mods I got. Read the results and info Clay posted up and here's a pic of mine , very smooth setup and most importantly, it filters excellent. My last used oil analiysis revealed a 5% silicon(dirt) contamination, great filtration..
Thanks to everybody who is helping to learn me about my truck! I'm still learning about this 8000lbs beast and with all your help it will be a even more dependable truck then it already is!!! Reps to all that helped me and will con't to do so...
You can do the ww with the turbo on the truck still if you don't mind leaning over the engine. You might as well do it when you install your exhaust seeing as though you need to get at the exhaust wheel to hold the shaft still. Very easy mod and once you get tuned I have found that the stock wheel surges a lot.
