Rear axle question

I have a 66 F100 LWB styleside that came stock with the 240 3 speed, now has a 300. The rear end is still the original and from the door code is a 370 gear.
My question is; Is my stock rear an open (peg leg) or a traction lock (limited slip) from the factory?
Thanks

If you are luck it may have a tag on the diff. The ratio will be stamped on it. Look for 3 L 70 or 3 70. The extra character in the ratio will tell if it is anything other then a pegleg. Also the warranty plate should have the same code...

The AXLE code will be found on the Warranty Plate, which is located on the left door face below the latch.

1959 thru today: If the AXLE code begins with a letter = Limited Slip.

If with a number, no Limited Slip.

Do not bother looking....if you have a Ford 9 inch rear axle.

1959/67, some 1968's: When Limited Slip was ordered, the rear axle is a DANA 44, not a 9 inch.

First year Ford offered a 9" with Limited slip in an F100: 1968.

You could get Limited Slip (Ford: Equa-Lok) in 1959/67 Passenger Cars with a 9 inch, but not in F100's.

1963/72 F100 = 09 is the AXLE code for 3.70-1 w/o L/S.

I am now trying to clean the tag on the housing, I will give that info a bit later. My Warranty tag is as follows:
F10AD789905
129 H F100 481 C 09
05000 129 4000 61

What I know of the tag is F100 with 240 built here in Dallas assembly. Is truck has spent its entire life here.
Axle is 370 which ist does feel like. But a friend said all trucks had limited slip but I do not feel that is true but I am new to the Slick ownership and am trying to learn.

Brian,
Your friend is wrong.
See Bill's earlier post.

"1963/72 F100 = 09 is the AXLE code for 3.70-1 w/o L/S".

So assuming no one has changed the differential or ring & pinion, you've got a 3.70 ratio ring & pinion with a "peg-leg" differential.

That is probably a good fit with your 300" I-6. What trans are you running now?

Limited Slip was first offered as an option in 1959, it's still optional today.
