I am instaling new lock nuts to secure the wheel bearing in my 85 F150 4WD. The old ones had no pin left on them so I orderd a complete set of dorman replacements for both sides.
Here is my question. The nut with the pin is that the inner nut that the bearing rides against or is it the outer.
I canot find any diagram, my gut tells me that it should be the inner one but I was hoping one of yall would know for sure.
It's the inner one, with the pin pointing out toward you. Set the bearing play with this nut. Then take the washer with the holes and the key in the middle, and slip it on, and make sure the pin fits in one of the washer holes. Then install the nut with no pin, and tighten it against the washer. Get this last nut pretty tight.
