I pulled a 90' motor out and put it in my 86 f150... its perfect fit, the 302, but i have to finish getting this wiring harness switched over to the 90 motor.... but im wondering, the 90' motor has 80k on it... so im guessing the 5 speed tranny that was with it would be good too. I have the 86 4 speed, but i want the 5 speed for more speed and longer lasting considering its newer with less wear and tear. but would the 90' 5 speed fit with a transfer case for the 4x4 and fit on the mounts... obviously itll mount to the motor since theyre the same thing, but i need it on the transfer case.

Are both trucks orignial 4x4? I am not 100% sure that the 5spd will mount to the crossmember but I am positive you can make something work. Do both trans have the same clutch setup, hydro or cable/linkage? If not there will be a issue there. I am sure it is completely possible but it all depends on how much work you are willing to put into it. Could run into some problems with driveshaft lengths. Do you still have the rest of the truck that the newer engine came out of?
I don't know about that, you may be able to swap the tailshaft on the 5spd to accept a transfer case. The best bet would be to find a 4x4 trans to start with.
I dont believe the 4x2 transmission will mount up to the transfer case. I'm pretty sure you have to have the 4x4 transmission but you should be able to sell the 4x2 and get the money you need to get a 4x4 5spd
The 4x2 tranny will not work in a 4x4 unless the 4x2 tranny is completely torn down and the tailshaft and related components are swapped out for 4x4 components.
