i came across this on a 351c perfomance engine site-it might help you.
they were using TOLUENE as an octane boost. it is much cheaper then
commercial octane boosters. it is available in some paint stores. you
can check it out further on WIKIPEDIA.

Toluene also poses similar problems as alcohol fuels, as it eats through standard rubber fuel lines and has no lubricating properties as standard gasoline does, which can break down fuel pumps and cause upper cylinder bore wear, I got this off of Wikipedia

That's pretty stupid to phase out 94, considering there are so many cars on the road that call for premium gas only.

Lordco had a product called "101 Octane Boost", I used it to pass aircare a few years ago, I don't know if they still have it, at the time I was told(by a mechanic associate) it doesn't raise the octane level, what it does do is allow whatever gas it was mixed with to burn more completely in the cylinder. My truck felt a little more peppy with it in the tank added to the 91 I use to use for aircare...

I'm a member of the Mazda Forums as well; Mazda Forums and I remember that there was a whole thread section on mixing your own gas to achieve the octane level you were after. Alot of the guys and gals on the Mazda Forums are track racers and run some crazy rigs with super intense octane levels. They had pie charts and graphs showing the effects of the different octane levels and the recipes associated with them. Check it out!
