OK...it's stupid question day! I've decided to do my own oil changes and need to make sure I don't kill myself rolling in under my F350 (GVWR - 13000lbs). I've always been under the impression that one should use a stand that is rated at least half the vehicle weight. True or False?
I change MY filters under my truck all the time! I never jack it up to change oil or change fuel filters. If you are bigger around than me....(I'm a little overweight), you MAY need to take a little weight off the body.....(of the truck). Your truck weighs a LOT less than 13,000 lbs!!!!
First off if you were going to get jackstands I would STRONGLY reccomend that you get a pair that is rated for the total weight of the truck not half..Afterall the front of your truck weighs much more than half of the total...
BUT I would reccomend Rhino ramps that you can just drive up on. I have a pair and use these when I don't want to hasle with my 2 post lift.
Here's what I'm talking about...
