Foil delete, suggestions please

I just finished painting the pipes and wanted some suggestions on how you guys got these pipes back in without scrathing the paint off? Especially the cold side pipe. Maybe cover the pipes with something until there in? I can just see scratching them to hell as Im snaking them in...

Once they are good and dry cover them with some clean cloth, pieces of old bed sheets or whatever, and then wrap them with blue masking tape. Leave the ends bare to attach the boots. Once you have them in and secure remove the wrapping.

Cover them in Sarahn Wrap.It will cling to them good and easy enough to get off when you have them in.
