Came home late the other night and noticed courtesy lights were on in my 2000 F150 as it sat in the driveway. I assumed I left a door ajar but no. The lights would very in intensity as if there is a bad ground or something. The lights stayed on (going dim then bright, then dim again) even after removing the fuse.
I pulled all the bulbs for the time being. A few days later, I puts the bulbs back in and all was well. But I'm worried the problem might return and drain the battery, leaving me stranded.
I've Googled but came up with nothing. Any thoughts??
Definitely. I pulled the fuse when the door was open. The bulbs would got dimmer when the fuse was pulled. Then bright again when I put the fuse back in. Tested it a couple times.
I haven't experienced this problem personally, but there are several threads on the site that talk about a windshield leak at the lower driver side corner that will cause an interesting array of electrical problems. Are you having water issues in the floorboard on that side? If you find that this is the problem, those same threads discuss ways to seal it. Do a search and check it out....
I am wondering if you have corrected the light issue.
If not I had the same on my 97 F150, its an easy fix.
Just spray some WD 40 into the door latch mechansium
and open and close the door a few times. The light is controlled by a pressure
In the latch, the lub wears out after years of use.
This will fix it.
best of luck.
