I did not think of that but it makes sense. I assume that they are shooting the guns off with several hundred lbs of air pressure and if the pumpkins were not frozen, it would just rip right through them.
At the big pumpking patch here, they have a smaller one of those. It really doesn't use that high of pressure, about 75 psi, but with such a big tank, it will toss it about 1/2-3/4 a mile!
