Bought a 1979 F250 today (Vin F25JRED0191) payed more than I wanted too, but the lady that was selling it, bought the truck from the original owner and has all the paper work since it was new, ($1500.00) 90k miles and rust free . My plan was to drive it for awhile and then strip it for my 78 shown in my gallery.
The problem is, after pressure washing the truck to get all the moss off from sitting a year, it's a dang nice truck... drives good, runs pretty good after sitting so long with old gas. It is a plane Jane Custom, but man that big block 460 has some poop
Overall there is very little to make this a nice truck, the body has a few minor dents but all are fixable. and after going through all the paper work, this lady put a ***** load of money into this truck. Rebuilt tranny, new radiator, new water pump, rebuilt heads, newer exhaust W/cat, new tires, new battery, rebuilt holley 4brl, and more.
Keep it and enjoy, or sell it to someone who will enjoy it. There are plenty of parts wout there with most everything for these trucks being reproduced. There is no need to tear apart a good running truck just to fix another.

If it is original, and all numbers match...If you can make it cherry..It will be worth the most $. Hack it, well, it's just another truck. What's it gonna be worth in another ten years?
I was out looking it over and it is 100% complete including the jack and handles the only thing that is not original is the radio, oh and the original owner put cab lights on top.

Houston, we have a problem.......you need to sell it to me..
If you're tight on cash and need the room, remember that you have it all cleaned up now.
Clean = more value. Sell it to someone for a couple hundred more than you have in it and find another beater for parts.
I agree with all, no need in hacking up a truck in that condition when there are plenty of good parts trucks setting around that are good for that intended use!
Why don't you throw some pictures up in this thread so we can have a peek at it??
Your looking at the truck I am restoring, the truck I bought to strip is the green one. and yes it is a kingpin dana 60 in the ranger. I bought the ranger almost 8 yrs ago complete with camper for 1200.00
