False advertisement Yeah right.

Who takes a 2002 F150 and enters it in a car show? You guys must have some different kind of car shows there.

here in texas there are alot of 97-03 f-150 in car shows. i dont know why you would even ask that. never heard of that like its a peice of crap for a truck or somthing. just because its an 02 doesn't mean it cant be in a car show, along with every other type of vehicle made in the USA!!!!

I think it was probably suggested already, but if not, remove the aftermarket stuff and see if you still have the popping and dying out issue. That will either show the aftermarket stuff to be the problem, or rule it out. That is how I would start.

I don't think these trucks are junk. I just havent been to too many real car shows where people showed common daily drivers, which these trucks definately are. I go to car shows to see the rare and unique, not seen everyday, on every corner, vehicles. Being from Texas probably also explains why there are trucks at car shows. Not that its wrong, just different than what I am used to. Glad to see you take some pride in your ride.

that was good research but it said nothing about a cai system. it just talked about filters and how they used a $200,000 machine to do the test. so if we used a filter other than a k&n filter then what does that do about the cai system?

Well a cold air intake sucks in hot under hood air and not cool outside air. There isn't much more to say about it. I know that my truck runs much better with the stock setup which is designed for truck. If the CAI was as great as the claims say, then all the engineers at Ford or any other car manufacturer must not know what they are doing.

"CAI system" might be a bit of a stretch. It is a tube between the throttle body and the air filter enclosure. So the factory fits a "CAI system" stock. What you have done is fitted one that is prettier than stock. Sounds like yours is one of the better versions since it uses and airbox to sheild from hot underhood air and it uses a non oiled filter so as to not cause problems with the hotwire airflow sensor. I would guess it is positioned to take outside air from the sme hole in the fender as the stock system. Again, no advantage other than looks, but nothing inherently wrong with the one you have installed.

Hard to say what your problem is. I know I would ditch the TB spacer though. Then determine what the sounds you hear actually are.

The CAIs are inherintly more noisy and make sucking and whistling and other odd sounds. Its the nature of them.

The stock intake tube design acts to silence the air. A CAI tube makes it a smooth straight shot, which acts like an overgrown whistle.

To chime in on the CAI debate, I've never found it to be worth the money to put it on a stock motor. An engine is an air pump. It's going to draw the air it needs unless something restricts that air. The stock intake box/tube is designed to meet the needs of a STOCK motor. I use a K&N OEM filter in the stock box. It doesn't make more air flow, it just opens up the only restriction in the tube that's there. I've never put it on a dyno to check to see if any numbers went up. I just like it. I've always ran 'em like that and never had a problem, mechanical or otherwise. There's not enough of anything that's gonna hurt that's gonna get through to make a difference IMHO.

Just my .02 worth,,,,,
