I'm still stuck on a Detroit, I forgot what you have, a 6.6? and how much? have pics? I usually go extreme with everything, so something big and noisy is what I want haha.

A 6V53T is pretty heavy, like 1800 pounds. This 6.6 litre(401) is around 1200. There's 2 vids of it, one is in my sig line at the bottom. A buddy was supposed to polish the intake and turbo compressor housing, but not sure if he did it yet. Best part, it's been overhauled in I think 2002, and the ford script on the valve cover. Pretty easy to get big power from it too, similar buildability as a Cummins 5.9 but sounds SOOO much cooler. Nice little clatter to it now. As it sits, I'd say it's 230hp/550tq. I rattle canned most of it Ford blue, pic in my avatar, and here: 67 F100 pictures by nevrenufhp - Photobucket
I was going to craigslist it for $2000, so throw me a number.....except we arent supposed to sell stuff in threads. I also have access to extrude hone the injector nozzles, if you want something more serious.

I don't think I want a 6.6 though, just a little small for what I am building, a 6x6.

Should I just get a chassis/drivetrain from an M-817 6x6 and save time? Maybe i'm getting carried away in my building thoughts.

A Detroit 6V53 is only 5.2 liters. Either engine is more than capable of hauling around 50k pounds.
An M817 has that non-turbo Cummins 855. Not a powerhouse, and not very fuel efficient. It would have a great rest of the drive train. If anything swap out the NHC for a bigcam400.

was thinking a detroit 6v71 or 92. Buy yeah maybe the best thing would be to get a 5 ton, swap on the SD body and engine. Call it good. What are the specs on a big cam 400 Cummins?

I'll bet this is a tank off-road, very cool truck. They did a nice job installing the "lower" set of headlights. Replaced the turn signals that are usually there?

Grandpa parked this ten years ago-

'76 F600 w/361 and a 5 speed, plus 2 speed rear.

I sold the dump box last weekend, and I picked up some tools to get the lug nuts off yesterday, so Im going to try and get it rolling (one stuck brake) this week and if I have some spare time, we'll shoot some ether in it and see if it pops....

I think it'd be awesome with a style side on the back

I've got a long way to go before I'm worried about that, but I will do so.

It needs a drivers side fender, hood, a lot of TLC, and someone has stolen the starter. I bet with a little work I can make it fire up soon.

Not on as grand a scale, but I'd love to clean it up, get it running, and toss a style side bed on it.

After the '68 is done, I plan to get to work on my '69 Mustang...

The ten hole didn't come out until about 1970 or 71.
