car engine in truck

hey. does anybody know what has to be changed to put a 4.6 from a car into a truck? or if they are even the same engine?

It will depend on what year car engine and what year truck.

its a 1998 f150 4x4 and the engine in the car i think is either 2001 or 2002, its from a crown vic i think.

Not sure on this particular engine but a lot of times they use a different cam to increase low end torque on the truck engine.

hmm, thats not good. i was hoping the only difference was the intake and oil pan, maybe exhaust manifolds. hopefully not the cam

Check around on the Mustang forums. I know this topic has been discussed before on sites like ModdedMustangs.com and I remember there being some good information there. From what I can remember there are a few differences between the truck and car 4.6. Also if I remember correctly the 98 will be NPI and the 2002 will be PI, so you might be looking at an increase in HP.

ALL modulars use the same camshafts. Car, Truck, etc..they're ALL the same.
The only difference being NPI heads having a camshaft with less valve lift than the PI heads.
