I know that rear disc were not an option back in the 70s on these trucks. So are there any other models I can look to and grab some rear disc for my truck (F-100 2wd 9inch out back). Or what are some of my other options?
Dis brake conversions are cheap and easy. The expense comes from the requirement for a parking brake. The common caliper is a chebby caliper (Cadillac El Dorado if you need a parking brake) and disc brakes can be upgraded for around 100 bucks.
Lots of write us and threads regarding this topic.
Ok I searched and found a lot but still a little confused. What year 1/2 ton (I'm guessing 4x4?) chevy do I need the bracket from. Also confused about the spacer you said to use as well.
Try checking out the TSM site (TSM MFG. CO., INC.) and read up on the various calipers and e-brake options. Even if you don't use TSM, I have and was happy with them, the information is pretty good and will give you an idea of how they work.
Here's a site I found helpful with some conversion info. I'm considering doing the disc swap myself and need the parking brake setup from the El Dorado to pass inspection.
The brackets from Virgina 4x4 looked pretty good - http://www.virginia4x4.com/rear%20di...nversions.html Mines a Dana 60 Though in a 4x4
Has anyone heard of what I'm talking about with swapping the Lincoln 9" rear discs onto our trucks?
I've seen it done, but can't for the life of me remember the year of the Lincolns they used. I want to say it was some of the 70's Lincolns or maybe the early 80's.
