I have a super cab 250 that i am getting a new set of seats for. it has 40/20/40's in it now and id like to keep the style, but i have two questions. 1 Are the seats out of a Single cab or 4dr going to fit or are the mounting brackets all different, and 2 will the seats out of a SD put my head too close to the ceiling? i know i have to have new mounting holes for them but i dont know how tall they are in comparison.
i have SD 40/20/40's and it doesn't seem like my head gets any closer to the ceiling, but i'm not very tall. the SD seats are much more confortable than my old seat, but i had a bench seat.
I would look for captains chairs. I would have to say they are the most comfortable seat I have sat in in any vehicle (aside from a few air ride seats). I think the holes match up but am not positive between captains and 40/20.
I put SD captains chairs in the front of mine. They are very comfy and it's nice to have the adjustments that the old bench did not have. My bench was worn out, so I sit much higher, like a few inches higher. I am about 5'-11", and my head is pretty close to the roof now. None of the mounting points line up, you'll have to drill all new holes with SD seats. The passenger side seat frame had to be modified to fit the OBS floor contour. I also had to use some 1/4" flatbar as shims between the floor and seat frames in a few spots to level the new frames properly. Easy job overall and really makes my pickup very comfortable.
thanks for all the info guys. i think in the future in goin to superduty's seats, but i foud a set like mine but wrong color for $40 so i think im gonna go get em tomorrow and put covers on em for now. does it matter what body style the donor set came out of? are the bolts the same on different cabs?
i didn't mod the frames at all, but i probably should have. LoL. you do have to drill ALL new holes for sure. there is just no stopping that, but it isn't a tough project at all. very nice when you are done too.
