I have had my 97 F-150 to the mechanic more than once concerning the check engine light. Everything has been changed as it applies to the Egr. and Oxy sensors the only thing left is the PCM main computer. What do you suggest as the best solution to fix the problem as the least expensive way...economically. What will the approximate cost be and what route should I take to correct problem. What source is the best to replace part. and should it be done professionally? I can remove parts just fine but do not know the electronics involved or have the necessary tools. What do you suggest?
I doubt that the computer would cause an error in the EGR circuit. My guess is you have a bad connection somewhere, clogged up flow, or a bad part.
Go to autozone and have them pull the code. Then post.
