Question Couple concernig questions?

I have a 2005 Ex with the 6.0. I have had tons of problems with. That think I had it in for was an oil leak. They had to take the whole body off to pull the motor out to fix it. Ever sense then I have been having problems. Water leak somewhere on the drivers side under the hood. When I got it back the steering wheel was of center to the left. The ford dealer tried fixing it by realining but know its off to the right and i have a lot of steering play and the truck wonders. I also hear a clunk when I hit a bump in the front. So I took it to my dads shop last week and pick it up in the air and checked all the ball joints and steering linkage. All seems find except there is shaft play in the gear box. Is this common or a bad gear back? I also want to men chin that I also put 20" rims and tires on at about the same time. Could this cause a possible the problem? I noticed to that its leaking oil again from the drivers side head. Don't know what there going to do know with it. I'm going to try and push for a new motor. This is like the 4th or 5th time for an oi leak and the truck just turn 60,000 miles this week. I'm having a problem to with power. When I pulled my camper last Friday it won't shift into over drive and when it would it couldn't maintain speed. We drove 90% of the way up north in 3 gear because it wouldn't shift into over drive. I have never had this problem pulling my camper before. I was wondering if the turbo was bad? They replaced the first one at 16,000 miles. When I had it in last the tech tolled me that there was shaft play in the turbine wheel and that it was starting to go bad. Is there a way to test if its good or bad? I also have no power on start up first thing in the morning. Pedal all the way to the floor and nothing. Ideals really rough and sometimes doesn't start on first time. Could this be a bad injector? The ford dealer told me that there was nothing that they could do if it goes away after five minutes. This thing is really starting to make me mad. Thanks much for your help

What did you do with your turbo? Just a couple drips every night. It's enough to make you mad. But I'm take full advantage of my warranty.

well the trubo to keep from melting it down you can change to a free flowing exchaust and that leak may be a oil line

Wow, sorry to hear about your troubles. If they end up pulling the engine to replace the gaskets, have them put head studs in. You'll most likely have to buy them but then at least this shouldn't happen again. As for the turbo, it's pretty common for the veins to "gum" up from the fuel residue. Most the time they just clean them, but if it's too bad, they will replace it with a reconditioned one which should be ceramic coated to help eliminate this problem. As for the starting, my guess would be the glow plug relay, that's why it runs better once it warms up.
Good luck with everything.

The way it runs is like its missing on an injector. Like its dirty or gummed up.

Thank God its still under warranty. Do you have to pay a deductible each time you take it in?

NO when they screwed up at 16,000 miles with the turbo they put on a 150,000 mile power train warranty. With a zero detectable.

Only if the OD of the new tires is substantially larger than the old.

Run the 2 tire sizes thru a gear calculator like gear ratio calculator to see the RPM change.

Real world? Mount the 16's for a test.
Good luck!

You really need to find a dealer that has a very good reputation with the 6.0

motors! Some dealers suck and band-aid the 6.0 motors and some get to the

root of the problems and they fix them right! My 6.0 had a notorious oil leak

and was actually bought back by Ford over the oil leak issue. I bought it as a

Ford buy back truck with 20k miles and guess what....it started leaking oil! I

took it to a good dealer here in Phoenix AZ, they fixed it and it's been fine for

the last 3 years and 50K miles! The guy who owned my Ex before me must

have been so sick of all the problems! All my truck needed was a mechanic

who knew what the heck he was doing!!! Ask around for a better dealer and

you may just get your problems repaired for good!

As far as the transmission, it all comes down to a reputable

dealer who cares about fixing your truck so it doesn't return again

in 3 months for the same problems!

Does the dealer have to eat the repair if it comes back for the same thing within a certain period of time?

I hope so its not Fords fault that its still leaking. But I'm sure that the dealer will turn in on warranty for another reason.

Man, I hate to hear of people having trouble like this. I wish you the best on this situation. This is not common but it happens from time to time. I really hope you get a new motor.
As for the transmission not going into overdrive it may very well be because of the larger tires and wheels you installed. The bigger tires and wheels has changed your final drive ratio.

Best of luck and I wish you the very best indeed.
