Ok guys I'll try to recall the moment to the best ability and keep in mind this is my first diesel so if I'm doing something wrong please correct me. I started the truck this morning drove to work fine, 8 hours later I go out to start the truck it starts fine. As I went to back up it stalled after about moving 5 feet. Tried starting the truck and it would just turnover and would not fire up, I did this about 3 times holding the key over for no more than 6-8 seconds. Finally I said screw it, I'll hold the key until I kill the battery, at this point I just knew I was going to call a tow truck. Well after about 15-20 seconds of constant turning over it finally lit off. Let the truck idle for about 30 seconds gave it the pedal a few times and it ran fine. Before anyone assumes, yes I ALWAYS check to make sure the light for the glow plugs go out before starting. The truck had just a little over a 1/4 tank of diesel having just went to the gas station last weekend. Its a 2007 PSD CC with 30k miles. My wife and kids use this truck sometimes and I'd hate for this to happen again with my family in it. Any suggestions, common problems I should be aware of? The truck is under warranty but I hate taking anything to the dealer here because its about a 2-3 day turn around.
I dont think it matters were you take the truck for repair. there are so few of us that work on them comparied to the number of them on the road its always a 3 day trip and thats a fast turn around. we have been knowen to be 3 weeks out.
I would agree with doing the cheap things first. Fuel filters - if over 10K then change. Fuel flow/pressure could affect the start sequence on these engines. Also oil change - Change at 5K as this could also affect things. As stated use only Ford OEM filters or IH filters as they are the same.
