hey everyone just wanted to know a bit about the ticking noise if its normal or not
when noise is made: when i idle the truck up to 1000 rpm it sounds like the lifters are ticking kinda bad (like a diesel) not really sure what it is the exhaust is good i actually changed the right manifold myself and had a mechanic check it over so that checks, another time it ticks is when im on the highway and i feather the gas i can make it tick on whim
i drive a F250 5.4 3v with a k&n and a superchips tuner, and a throtal spacer(waste) any other info i will give you info thanks in advance
My truck ticks, especially in the mornings, once its warmed up its fine. From what I understand its something these motors do. But I agree check the plugs, theyre known to blow out
If the plugs check out what else could the ticking noise be? it doesnt do it when idling or higher then 1500 rpms, anything under 900 rpms it sounds normal but when its at that 1000 rpm range it sounds like the lifters are ticking or something, the truck has 184000 kms
some of the older modular motors had a tick to them until they warmed up, someting to do with the oil pump system. but im gonna say check your plugs first, then check the oil level, then maybe to see if a exhaust manifold is cracked or leaking.
thanks for the info everyone, i have checked the plugs and they are all good, i had a licensed mech look at it and he is a trusted friend, he thinks its either something loose or could be a spring im really hoping its not the cam. wont know till i pull the valve cover and inspect it, any info would be great on this, the truck has 185000 kms on it
