Well I have a 99 with 113,xxx miles on the truck other day i was pulling a 20ft. trailer and it a had a bobcat on it. I rented the bobcat and trailer so first time pulling it. I was going down the highway and came to a hill and it shifted out of o/d so i hit the o/d button to turn it off. Well i got to my house and unhooked the trailer and took back off I pushed the o/d button to turn it back on and nothing? It almost seams like the button is stuck? Have you guys ever heard of this before. Thanks
Well the nice thing is that you'll have overdrive back after you shut down and restart as I'm sure you already found out.
Sometimes you can get lucky if the wires are broke by wiggling the shifter handle while pressing the button.
Replacing the whole shifter assembly with a new one (the shifter, boot, button, and light) is only around 40 bucks and will take up 15 mins of your time.
