That reminds me of the Bobtail vehicles we had in the AF. The rears had 3 pintle hooks so you could tow equipment and smaller munitions trailers side by side. Made for one hell of a wide load.
jetpilot2--I assume you are have bought (are buying) this truck? If you have a chance, have a Ford dealer run the VIN thru the Ford OASIS system--it will show a record of everything done at a Ford shop.

Mud Doc,
Already bought, so it's my baby now, it's just I haven't actually gotten to see it yet. The truck was in Texas and I flew my buddy out there and he drove it to Va. Beach (30+ hours) with ZERO problems, so hopefully everything will be okay.
It just got delivered to the shop today for a FULL service and Va. inspection. It should be already and waiting for me when I get home!
I appreciate your thanks and you're welcome, but the real thanks goes to the guys that go "outside the wire" everyday. I am a veteran (U.S. Navy), but now am a civilian contractor supporting the troops. I'm thankful there are guys like you that appreciate the sacrifice and work they do.
Don't know if you got your answer or not , but I 've seen acouple of these . Last one on a 5th wheel . I can't remember who makes them .
There made of square tubing frame with aluminum diamond sheet on top, about 5'x6' that had two leading (2X2'' thick wall draw bars)that slid into those two recievers on the rear of your truck . There is a single wheel mounted under the plateform that is spring loaded and can swivel 360 degrees that will allow you to backup without binding up . This last one I saw had 2 small quads on it , maybe 6oo-7oo# total load ? Maybe your previse owner had a cabover camper on yours and needed somemore load area , anyway hope that helps ya .
I have not gotten anything for sure, but you're the first to actually have first hand knowledge of the set-up. Now that you mention fifth-wheel, I seem to remember something about a "custom 5th-wheel" in the truck description. I'll go back and see if I can find the original ad.
