Question for a buddy about oil usage...
He has a 7.3 IDI ATS turbo diesel, he was told that the turbo needs bearings and seals? Does this make sense? he would like to know how much this would cost to fix and how hard it would be to do if we attempted this on our own? IF it is the bearings and seals as long as he makes sure hes got good oil level and pressure, would it be okay for now, or should he fix this ASAP?

Yes, if the turbo seals are leaking oil from the cartridge, it's going to burn it up. Rebuilding them is not hard, they use T3/T4 parts, and decent rebuild kits can be had reasonably off of ebay. Check the shaft for side play. A little end play is normal, and even a little side play is normal, but if it can smack the compressor wheel off the housing, you're going to want to get it straight before that IDI ingests compressor fins.
