While driving at a set speed, I notice a low level hissing from my A/C. It is not loud, but it is quite noticeable and pretty annoying. It isn't noticeable at a stop or when accelerating, I assume it has something to do with the vacuum lines. Of course, the dealership service dept. was unable to detect this problem, despite their 43 mile test drive. Anyone else notice this or have any ideas? Thanks.
Yes, mine does that. Another weird thing: sometimes when I hit the brakes I hear a ventilation line "door" closing, i.e., that seems to have something to do with shifting from cool to heated air. Go figure.
I just bought mine Saturday and it's already in the shop. I will listen for the hissing sound. Has anyone noticed that the ride sucks? Mine is so much rougher than my 2000 model and all of them seem to be that way.
I have the same hissing sound (only when the fan is greater than 1 bar). And yes I occasional hear the "closing" sound (it's like we're docking our space ship on the landing pad :P depressurizing).
Does this have anything to do with the rear ventilation system and the ventilation used for the cool / heat seats?
It doesn't bother me but please keep us updated if they find the exact cause (is it suppose to be there?)...thanks.
Go test drive another Expy. I find my ride very plush (smooth and controlled) especially for a full size SUV.
I did however replace all my OEM Conti to Bridgestone Dueler H/P tires. Considerable upgrade to every attribute of the ride (quieter, better traction/braking, stiffer sidewall for less lean in turns, etc.). The only downside (other than cost) is the reduction of off-road grip as the H/P is suppose to be derived from the SO2 tread (if you believe Bridgestone's ads ).
I find the Expy more stable in turns (low radius) than my SHO! The Conti ride was acceptable too but I wanted better performance from my tires. Good luck.
I have a new EXPY with 2000 miles and immediately noticed the same hissing sound. I assumed it was normal for the new year. At least I know now that I'm not the only one.
