another exhaust question
I have a 96 f150 with a 300/4.9L. Currently it has the stock manifolds and cats but no muffler. It splits to 2 pipes where the muffler use to be and runs straight out the back. I like the sound of it but I really wish it was louder. I was wondering what it would sound like without the cats and/or with headers (and of course a true duals).

rip it off and find out! i have a 95 with the 4.9, i took my muffler off a while back.. it does sound better than the stock nothing. good luck finding headers though. i wanna get a set for my truck, but cant find em. from all my research the ones that they have are only for the 300's up to 93... from reading around on here i beleive there are sone people that have made them work by doing some modifications to them, but i assume not even mess with it. what i would suggest is to get a new y pipe with a high flow cat then into a muffler. check out this y pipe high flow cat combo from magnaflow...MagnaFlow 93302 - MagnaFlow Direct-Fit Catalytic Converters - Overview - SummitRacing.com thats what im puttin on my 300 when i get some more moolah!

Oh... and for dual headers... Clifford Performance: Ford 300 & 223
EDIT: Oh... And another version (2wd).... http://www.jegs.com/i/Hedman/500/89300/10002/-1 I had a friend who had this version. He said it was a PITA to install and had to be bent to fit.
