Baby's Got New Shoes

But had to show off the new shoes. I was already getting ready to replace my stock Conticraps as they were pretty much worn out. However, that process was hastened when I came home the other night to find a 3 inch deck screw sticking out of the side wall of my rear tire! Fortunately, there was no air loss until I pulled the screw out and I was able to change the tire in the safety and relative comfort of my driveway. After that process, all I can say is I would hate to have to change one of these tires on the side of the road!
Anyway, I wanted to go with a slightly larger tire because I thought it would look better on the truck. I had narrowed down my choices to the Toyo Open Country and Nitto Terra Grapplers as I also wanted a true all terrain tire. After taking some measurements of the fender clearance with my stock 18 inch Continentals, I decided I could go with a tire that was up to 2 inches larger than my stock 275/70-R18 tires. I finally decided on the Terra Grapplers (295/70-R18). These tires are 1.2 inches larger in diameter (34.44 inches) and are 0.87 inches larger in width (11.77 inches) than the stock tires. I uploaded a few pictures to my gallery of the new tires showing the look and clearance (the photos are at the bottom of my gallery). The suspension of my truck is completely stock (no lift and no leveling kit). I've got good clearance all the way around and am completely happy with the purchase. Hope the photos help those that may be considering new shoes in the future and are looking at a larger tire with a stock suspension truck.
