2.3l cam follower

Strange thing happened yesterday. While at highway speed... truck started misfiring and lost a lot of power.

Got it home, checked compression... #2cyl had intermittent compression... odd...

Pulled the valve cover off... cam follower on #2 exhaust cyl had simply fallen off.

Hmmm... how the heck did that happen... stuck valve maybe? A stuck valve would explain the intermittent compression...

What do you guys think? Do I need to be looking for something else? Is there a valve lash adjustment?

i have seen this before and it may be a stuck valve. But I always changed the hydraulic lifter the the follower sets on and that has always fixed the problem for me.
